MEET YOUR DJ, HOST & MASTER OF CEREMONIES

Decades of Music, Microphones, and Reading the Room

Troy Kearley may be newer to Myrtle Beach, but he is not new to entertainment. He brings decades of DJ, radio, stadium announcing, emcee, karaoke, wedding, and live-event experience to Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, and the Grand Strand.

It Started in Utah

Troy grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah, near the Wasatch Mountains, and his first real venture into business started with music. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he began DJing in the Salt Lake City area, working weddings, clubs, private parties, corporate events, mitzvahs, and just about any gathering that needed music, energy, and someone who could keep things moving.

For Troy, DJing was never just about playing songs. It was about reading the room, understanding the crowd, knowing when to bring the energy up, when to slow things down, when to make the announcement, and when to let the moment happen.

More Than Pressing Play

A great event needs more than a playlist. It needs timing, personality, clear communication, and someone who understands how people respond in the moment. Over the years, Troy learned that the best DJs do more than fill silence. They help shape the entire experience.

That same instinct carries into every ThatWorks Entertainment event today. Whether Troy is hosting karaoke, DJing a wedding reception, making announcements, or serving as Master of Ceremonies, the goal is always the same: keep the event organized, comfortable, and fun.

Radio, Stadiums, and the Microphone

Troy's microphone experience grew beyond private events and dance floors. He worked as an on-air DJ for Hot 94.9 and B-98.7 in Salt Lake City, gaining real broadcast experience and learning how to communicate clearly, naturally, and confidently.

That experience later carried into sports and live-event announcing. Troy served as the in-stadium announcer for the Utah Blitzz professional soccer team, then later auditioned for and earned the in-stadium announcer role for Real Salt Lake, the Major League Soccer team.

That background matters because event hosting is not just about having a microphone. It is about timing, clarity, confidence, energy, and knowing how to guide a crowd without overpowering the moment.

Lake Norman Weddings, Karaoke, and Weekly Gigs

In 2014, Troy moved to the Lake Norman area, where he continued DJing weddings and working regular weekly gigs for years. Those events added another chapter of real-world experience: weddings, karaoke, private parties, regular crowds, changing rooms, different venues, and the kind of live situations that teach a DJ how to adjust quickly.

By the time Troy moved to Myrtle Beach, he had already spent decades learning how to entertain different kinds of crowds in different kinds of settings.

Bringing That Experience to Myrtle Beach

Today, ThatWorks Entertainment is based in Myrtle Beach and serves Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, and the Grand Strand with DJ, karaoke, emcee, announcer, and Master of Ceremonies services for weddings, private parties, corporate events, bars, restaurants, reunions, birthdays, fundraisers, and community events.

When you book Troy, you are not hiring someone who is guessing his way through your event. You are hiring someone with decades of experience behind the microphone, behind the DJ booth, on the radio, in stadiums, at weddings, and in front of real crowds.

"Good entertainment is not just about the music. It is about reading the room, using the microphone well, and knowing how to keep people connected to the moment."
